Shaka (Scythian) Dynasty

  • Shaka rulers were divided into five branches The first branch established its empire in Afghanistan, the second in Punjab, the third in Mathura, the fourth in Western India and the fifth in the Upper Deccan.
  • Shaka kings were called Kshatrapas who were divided into two parts - the Northern Kshatrapas (Taxila and Mathura) and the Western Kshatrapas (Nashik and Ujjain).
